365 Days of Blessings – Day 109 – A REAL Winter Storm
I am thankful for a REAL winter storm
I realized the other day that in less than 4 weeks it will officially be Spring. Wait, what? Spring?! When did that happen? This winter has been a little disappointing coziness wise to say the least. Every time it snowed it would be gone within a day or two. I mean, except for when we were on long drives, when it would storm in abundance, then the white stuff just wasn’t enough! As I watch the snow piling up outside, I’m loving every minute of it!

Frenzied Friday – Winter Wonderland Heart to Heart
We drove up to Ottawa yesterday to miss the biggest snowfall of the year today. The biggest mistake we made was to drive through the middle of Toronto during rush hour. What were we thinking! And so, what should have been a 5 hour drive, turned into 8. But we arrived safely ahead of the storm. We settled into our hotel and when we woke up this morning…..nothing! Not a speck of snow. Not a speck until 3PM. Then, over the last hour and a half we have encountered what must be akin to the Abominable Snowman’s favourite happy place! And there is no end in sight!
We had lunch (well, really breakfast, but it was almost noon, after all, who said we were the world’s greatest parents?), then Papa dropped us off at the Rideau Centre. Poppet and I had a blast! We hit the LCBO (liquor store for all you non-Ontarians). Wandered the stores. Bought only 2 items (a wallet that will actually fit in my awesome Roots purse I got for my first Mother’s Day, and a red senators bracelet for Papa to replace the ugly rubber band on he wears on his wrist), grabbed a little fruit salad snack, and braved the huge snowflakes for a short 4 bus stop ride back to the hotel.
A quick call to my seeestah, Poppet asleep, and the next hour or so is all mine! Well, okay, all yours, but you know I love ya!
Let’s have a chat. I must admit, I was a little underwhelmed by the response to the news of us having to give away our pup. I think one gentleman liked it on Pinterest, but that was it! I’m wondering how many actually have pets in the home with toddlers? I’m thinking it must be a lot fewer than when I grew up. After all, taking care of a toddler is TOTALLY time-consuming!
Let me know, do you have pets? Can you relate to having to part with a pet after a long time? I’ve only had to put animals down in the past (I say ONLY, but really, it is the sole reason I don’t want any more pets after our bird is gone too – I love pets, but too hard to part with!) It’s odd to know she is in someone else’s home. I hope she is adjusting okay. I still miss her.
Warmest regards,

365 Days of Blessings – Day 97 – Those Who Look Out for Us!
Yesterday I had to be to services by noon. As my husband is travelling, I had built time into my morning to take care of the essentials, feed Poppet and clear the snow. As I was getting her breakfast I could hear a scraping sound. I opened the curtain blinds, and there was my neighbour, yet again cleaning my walkway! What a doll!
So I finished getting Poppet fed, took a glance out the window to look at my clean walk, and there was a college friend of ours cleaning the snow off my van. Then I got a message from him as I was leaving home to drive careful as the roads were really slick! These small gestures mean the world to me!
I am thankful for those who look out for us!

365 Days of Blessings – Day 81 – Chivalry
I am thankful for chivalry
My neck is still out-of-place, along with a rib. I sleep uncomfortably, and when I looked in the mirror, my right shoulder is actually a good couple of inches lower than my left. As soon as I got up this morning I called the chiropractor again. Because we’re finally having “winter weather” there were a lot of cancellations and he could take me right away. I got all bundled up, ready to have my hubby drop me off and then I’d walk to the store and walk home as he went to work.
He took me to the chiropractor, then waited with me. And instead of leaving me to walk, he dropped me at the store to pick up the 2 things I needed and drove me home! How thoughtful! My knight in shining armour!

365 Days of Blessings – Day 74 – My Neighbours
I was cleaning the kitchen, and could hear Poppet laughing hysterically at the window. Eventually, curiosity got the better of me and I just had to see what was so funny! It was my next door neighbour shovelling her walkway. They were playing a game of peekaboo between passes. She greeted my with a warm smile and wave, and we both returned to our work at hand.
The next time I turned around and looked out the window, my neighbour was gone, but my entire walkway was shovelled for me! I have the best neighbours!
I am thankful for my neighbours

365 Days of Blessings – Day 51 – Snow
Although we’ve been missing any real snow on the ground this winter so far, I am still very thankful for its existence. The eager anticipation of its falling is all I need to keep me going! I know it will come sooner or later. Until then, we’ve created a winter wonderland for Poppet in our living room. Igloo, skating and sledding and all included!
I am thankful for snow
