A Reliable Vehicle (365 Days of Blessings – Day 156)
I am thankful for a reliable vehicle
I remember the days when we couldn’t afford a car that had any type of warranty, let alone even a guarantee it would run. Often they would have the strong smell of a previous smoker, and the kind of feeling that you’d want to shower each time you got out of it. I am thankful that we have been blessed enough to be able to have a few cars now that are pretty much guaranteed to start when you turn the key!
Warmest regards,

Passing Lanes (365 Days of Blessings – Day 154)
I am thankful for passing lanes
I remember when we used to head up to the cottage as a teenager. Highway 400 would end at Barrie – Highway 11 would continue on towards Huntsville, and Highway 69 towards Sudbury. That was the direction we would head. It was only 1 lane, but there was a super wide shoulder, and it was understood that if you were a slow vehicle, that when safe you would pull over and drive on the shoulder and let the faster cars pass by. Very wisely they decided to widen Highway 69, which became the Highway 400 extension and now just Highway 400. And by making official passing lanes, cut off hours from a week-end drive that kinda took away from the point of having a place to go and relax!

Frenzied Friday – It all started with a speeding ticket….
My husband decided to slow down, WAY down! Yesterday, while travelling to Sault Ste. Marie, we were actually losing time according to the GPS. He wasn’t even driving the speed limit at times.
He has discovered a savings in his gas budget (perhaps this ought to be a Thrifty Thursday post) and so a mere 4 km/hr difference between the speed he drives, and the speed I drive, is enough to curl my hair! Somewhere along the way he turned into my grandfather!
As this Friday truly is Frenzied, with lots of visits, I wrote this during our drive on Thursday. From the driver seat I’m asked, “You blogging about me right now?” ”UH HUH!!!!” (You bet I am!)
Update: We just pulled off onto a rural highway, and hubby says “seems a bit slow”. Ironic! Just how you like it love! :-)

365 Days of Blessings – Day 48 – Quiet Roads
Each year our family rents a cottage and heads up for a quiet few days away from it all. We are heading up after my husband gets off work, and I can’t help wishing it was yesterday. Yesterday there were no Boxing Day shoppers scrambling for the deal of the century! There were plenty of parking spaces available in deserted parking lots (albeit, nothing was open). it was quiet! Today makes me miss that.
I am thankful for quiet roads

Frenzied Friday
This morning my husband took me to my La Leche League Canada meeting and kindly dropped off the pup to the kennel while we were there. How sweet! I LOVE LA LECHE LEAGUE CANADA! I relish in the moments spent with my “sisters”, sharing our common experiences, and our not so common ones. Since the last meeting I’ve conquered a bad bout with mastitis. Thankfully one of the local La Leche League Canada leaders in Guelph was able to give me some extremely useful advice, and within 5 days I was back to my old self! This morning was full of new little babes, some familiar faces, and lots of great conversation! Can hardly wait until next month!
Hubby picked me up promptly at noon and we were off to Ottawa. We are currently on the road somewhere between Oshawa and Port Hope. I’ve gotten really good at setting up a mini office in the passenger seat of our van and typing away for the ride! Makes the time pass much quicker.
By dinnertime we are to be in Ottawa, having a lovely meal with an amazing cook! Then back to Smiths Falls for the evening, Cornwall tomorrow evening, then finally home on Sunday. Whew! Tired even thinking about it! This is the reason why I started Silent Saturdays and just post a pic and the thing I am thankful for because there is just too much going on in our lives on the week-ends!
We’ve got some great things coming down the pipeline over the next week or so. A great fashion giveaway, the opportunity for some guest posts, and some new blog features! Keep checking in daily!

365 Days of Blessings – Day 27 – the Officer Showed Us Mercy
We got a speeding ticket. We should have gotten a much larger speeding ticket. We missed a sign and we were doing 112 kph in a 70 kph zone.
I am thankful the officer showed us mercy

You’re a danger to yourself….
And to everyone around you!
I am sitting quietly, and quite happily, in the passenger seat of our new minivan with Sophie as my mascot. The evening is beautiful, not a cloud in the sky. Ah, peaceful.
What a difference an hour can make. I was driving then. Out of nowhere we hit a whiteout. I mean, from no snow, on the ground or in the air, to no longer being able to see the road (not which lane I was in, but actually if I was even on the road or not).
My husband of course, from his corner in the passenger seat, could see everything. As I tried to slow down and hang on to my nerves for the next mile until I reached the rest stop it got worse and worse. Uh oh, just missed the exit. Not my fault. Couldn’t remember if I was to drive on the right or left of the exit sign to stay on the ramp. Okay, only one more mile till the next exit.
As I started to slide in the deep snow I inched this battleship of a vehicle down the road. 3/4 of a mile, 1/2 a mile, 1/4 mile. “you’re a danger to yourself and everyone else on the road”. Did I hear something? Nope! And so, having safely made it off the ramp, firmly planted my butt in the passenger seat, and relinquished the driving responsibilities, we serenely continue down the road, now without a speck of snow.
