I am thankful it was not my child

My sister and niece came to visit.  We had lunch, the kids had naps, and we headed to Kid Zone at Chapters.  While there I kept hearing screams.  Each time I would wander away there it was.  Each time I’d come heading back to my child.  Each time it WASN”T her!  Oh yeah,  who’s got great parenting skills?  I do!!!!!  Okay, perhaps I’m getting a little ahead of myself.  Probably all the credit goes to her.  It was just nice to have it NOT be her today!

I am thankful for back-up plans

Poppet has taken to only napping for an hour or so these days, and waking up grumpy and clingy.  Add that to the great slow-cooker mishap that took place this afternoon (it was supposed to be meatless sloppy joes – yuck!) and hubby suggesting we head to the mall for food court!

We stopped in at the Cultures and Thai Express across from Chapters.  Had a great dinner of noodle soup bowls shared with Poppet, complete with chopsticks and all!  Then headed to Starbucks for their new Blonde roast, then Kid Zone in Chapters!  Turned the entire disaster around!

I asked my husband to take us on a date tonight (Poppy and me).  Nowhere fancy.  Our favourite place is to go to the local Chapters store and browse books, or let Poppy enjoy the toys in the kids area.  We usually order a Venti latte from the Starbucks in the store and have them put it into 2 grande cups (saves a bundle) and off we venture into the aisles of books, upon books, upon books.  Anyone who has ever been to my house knows, at some point in the night someone will say, “you sure must read a lot of books!”  You are greeted with them in almost every area of the house on tall bookshelves.

I have a penchant for cookbooks.  They are part of my identity.  So I was SUPER excited to run across this site this morning.  I’m heading right to their book tonight and will let you know how it turns out tomorrow.  Anyone who promises Artisan Breads in only 5 minutes of work a day has my curiosity on full alert!
