I was challenged to write about myself using the A-B-C’s as the starting letter for each main point. Hope you enjoy!
I hate writing ABOUT myself: How’s that for a start? I am usually quite a private person (despite having my life on a Mom Blog). I really like talking with others about themselves rather than myself. I am self-conscious when it comes to writing about myself. This challenge is particularly difficult because of this.
My roots are in BARBADOS: My family on my mother’s side has been there for over 400 years. Apparently we were tea thieves or something, and had the option of prison or this unknown land. Kinda funny considering the letter “T” to follow.
I love CATS: I don’t currently have any, but we have had as many as 4 at once. We have too many family members who are allergic to cats or we would have one in a heartbeat for Poppet.
I look like my DAD: I’ve heard this ever since I was a little girl. It was kinda novel until my teen-age years. No teen-age girl wants to hear she looks like her dad.
I have a distinct lack of ENERGY ever since Poppet was born. This 37-year-old body is no competition for a 20-month-old toddler!
My daughter is truly a product of FAITH: After waiting 13 long years for her arrival, there is no other explanation.
I love my GOD: He has blessed my life abundantly.
The initials of my mother’s name spell HOPE.
My IQ score when last tested was 139 (134 with baby brain).
My middle name is JOY.
I would love to go out and fly a KITE: I haven’t for years, but I’d do it in a heartbeat!
My favourite drink is LEMONADE.
I was MARRIED in 1997.
I have a Roman NOSE.
When I got married, I went from an easily pronounceable last name to “OO-OOS-OOST – How do you say that?”
My daughter’s first name is POPPY, named after my grandfather who we called Poppy.
When you go around a circle and ask everyone to answer a QUESTION, I hate if I’m near the end, someone always picks the answer I was going to use.
I am related to ROYALTY on my father’s side. We go back to Anne Boleyn.
I was SICK shortly after I got married, and stayed sick for many years. Never knew what it was, but 10 years later a naturopath finally told me it was my adrenals. Been tons better ever since!
I am from TORONTO: and I’m a city girl through and through.
I never finished UNIVERSITY: I got married instead. Thankfully, in 1997 many jobs were still available through networking and who you knew. I worked for Corel Corporation (Microsoft Competitor) over their North American Retail Merchandising Team.
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve been fascinated by Queen VICTORIA: By the way she carried herself, how she ascended the throne, and her love for her husband, Prince Albert.
I love being a WOMAN: It allowed me to give birth to my daughter. Need I say more?
I am not a big fan of X-RAYS: Don’t really trust something that needs the rest of my body to be covered up in lead for the process.
I look YOUNGER than my age: That’s what I’ve been told my entire life. Not too sure it applies anymore. Celebrities who are my age include: Drew Barrymore, Jimmy Fallon, Kate Winslet, Joaquin Phoenix, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ryan Seacrest. I’d be more Leo-like, less Joaquin.
I hate ZUBERTS: When someone puckers their lips and wants to press it against a part of my body and pretend their playing a trombone, save it for the 2 year-old.
That’s me, all wrapped up in my daughter’s favourite song!

This is a great list, Joy! I feel like I know so much more about you. With you on the Zuberts, baby brain and loving God. Isn’t it amazing how the Poppet came along after so many years? God is so faithful!

We just flew a kite for the first time in years! We live by the beach so there was a nice wind. loved it. thanks for sharing so much about yourself.
I used to like lemonade too, until I heard how much sugar it contains. That made me like it a lot less, as I would rather have a mars bar than a glass of lemonade!
