I’ve been waiting for this one! Â I LOVE to cook! Â And I’ve been a HUGE fan of Cook’n Recipe Organization Software for 12 years now! Â When I was given the opportunity to review their latest program I jumped all over it! Â Cook’n is the number one, best-selling recipe organizer software.
It all started with a cookbook of recipes that was left to me by my Nanny (as grandmothers are called in the maritimes!). Â It is a beautiful collection of handwritten and typed recipes, lovingly compiled in an old binder. Â I love leafing through them and running across old favourites. Â It is a walk down memory lane! Â The book is getting quite old and falling apart, but I truly love it. Â A couple years after I was married I decided it was time to put this cookbook into electronic format so I could print out copies for my family, and basically just to make sure it was preserved for future generations.
I ran across a program called Cook’n 2000 on the shelf at my local electronic store and thought I’d give it a try. Â I’ve never looked back! Â Last week, as I waited for Cook’n 10 to download and open I was like a kid in a candy store. Â What secrets would await me?
Finally I was all set. Â Poppet was in bed, and now was my time. Â I clicked on the little strawberry icon and the program launched.
Such a clean interface! Â And super easy to navigate through. Â I quickly added a new cookbook to my virtual bookshelf, complete with chapters and categories. Â Then I typed in a couple of new recipes. Â Perfect! Â I was in the mood for something new, so I ventured to the search feature. Â Selected “search the entire web” and looked up Beer Bread on BigOven.com. Â Up popped the recipe I included for last week’s “What’s for Supper Sunday“. Â One more click on “Capture” and it was seamlessly imported to Cook’n. Â THIS PROGRAM ROCKS!!!! Â Check out the demo video!
I went back to the recipes I had typed by hand. Â I decided to jazz it up a bit, so selected a new page theme and added a photo. Â I see I can also add a video if I like.
Being the new(er) mum that I am, trying to lose that stubborn baby weight, I clicked on the “Nutritional Facts” button and was greeted with a fully comprehensive list, including daily nutritional values. Â I decided to add Maple Glazed Meatballs to my weekly menu (Cook’n 10 automatically adjusted the recipe amounts for the number of people I wanted to serve), printed out a shopping list and headed to the store! Â What else could I want?
Not wanting to get my computer dirty (I am the World’s MESSIEST cook!”, I decided to print my recipe out. Â I had the option of everything from a recipe card up to a full sheet of paper. Â Cook’n even prints on the back side of cards. Â I can even make a custom sheet size to put in a smaller binder.
The final icing on the cake: Â Cook’n 10 is about to release Apps for iPhone, iPad and Android that will allow me to take my recipes with me! Â Squee!
Can I say it any better? Â I LOVE COOK’N 10 RECIPE ORGANIZATION SOFTWARE! Â TWO HUGE OVEN MITT THUMBS UP!!!!
