We all know I love a thrift store find. Â One of my latest is something that Poppet has claimed as a new toy. Â However, I really plan to claim it back if another baby ever comes along.
When Poppet was born, the midwives gave me the typical new mom sheet. Â On it I was to record her temperature, my temperature, how many p & p’s were in her diaper, how many feedings she had. Â And with all that I was supposed to also remember which side she last nursed on so I could offer the other side at the next feeding. Â All of this as I was in an exhausted haze. Â I’ll tell you a little secret. Â I neglected those sheets after the first 2 days and started to make stuff up to look good when the midwives were coming to visit. Â Poppet was thriving and it was all I could do just to get breakfast before 4 pm!
If I had my latest thrift store find I would never have needed to fib my way through those first couple of weeks.
Sorry the picture is so small, but it is literally the ONLY one I could find online. Â Seems they’re not made anymore. Â Really a shame! Â Guess we are all app’d out Mummies these days. Â But I love the simplicity of this! Â It has little blocks, just like a regular abacus. Â and all you do is slide them across. Â Dirty diaper? Â Slide a block. Â Wet? Â Slide another. Â Just fed the baby? Â Well, you get the picture. Â It even has a single block that you slide from right to left for which side you nursed your Poppet on last. Â I love the simple colours. Â It is VERY unobtrusive. Â Sure wish they were still around. Â Would make a perfect addition to any nursery! Â I paid a whopping $1.99 for it! Â It was worth every penny! Â Even if Poppet is the only one who ever gets to play with it!
Warmest regards,
